European Science Foundation (ESF)

“European Science Foundation” (ESF) is the European association of 79 major national research funding agencies from 30 countries. ESF acts as a catalyst for the development of research in Europe, by networking researchers, research programmes and funding agencies, and by generating science policy reports and launching joint science funding initiatives at a European scale.

49 funding agencies specifically supporting research in the Humanities are represented on the “Standing Committee for the Humanities” (SCH), which also acts as a European voice for the diverse scientific communities that make up the 15 large fields of Humanities research in Europe.
