Past Into Present: Understanding Policy and Innovation in Europe
The 2005 HERA Conference took place at the British Library, London, on the 8th of December.
The conference was organised under the British presidency of The European Union and it was opened by Lord Sainsbury, The United Kingdom's Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Science and Innovation. Keynote speakers included Professor Lisa Jardine, Centenary Professor of Renaissance Studies at Queen Mary, University of London, Professor Alain Peyraube, Director of Research at the Centre Nationale de la Researche Scientifique and Dr Stephen McClatchie of the Social Sciences and humanities Research Council of Canada.
Three parallel workshop sessions in the afternoon provided an opportunity for participants to explore the impact of humanities research for issues of European Security, knowledge transfer and innovation, and world development.
