Network Board (NB)

Each partner is represented on the Network Board by its chairperson. Prof. Martin Stokhof, chair of the NWO Research Council for the Humanities was elected NB chair for the first 2 year term at the network Meeting in Amsterdam on 3 September 2004.

 

NB Responsibilities:

  • Take decisions on internal HERA operations
  • Take responsibility for budgetary management
  • Approve documents, results and approaches related to HERA activities
  • Prepare advice on science issues for HERA members
  • Review objectives and milestones

 

Steering Committee (SC)

The Steering Committee is the executive committee of the NB. The Steering Committee consists of the NB-representative from each of the six partners holding responsibility as Work Package Leader. SC meets twice a year.

 

SC Responsibilities

  • Agree on plans and implementation of HERA activities
  • Monitor progress and work performed

 

 

Management Team (MT)

The Management Team consist of one representative (director level) from each funding agency. The MT meets twice a year in conjunction with Steering Committee meetings. MT is chaired by the Network Coordinator, Ms Annemarie Bos, Managing Director of the Council for the Humanities of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Network management decisions
  • Responsible for implementing network objectives
  • Responsible for dissemination and information

Group of Work package Leaders (WPL)

Staff of the six core group partners bearing responsibilities as Work package Leaders meets more frequently (four times a year) to discuss the progress of the project.

 

Responsibilities:

  • To take charge of leading work packages
  • To coordinate tasks within their work packages
  • To cooperate with the Coordinator in drafting management reports and coordinating activities

 

Coordinator

The HERA Coordinator is Ms Annemarie Bos, Managing Director of the Council for the Humanities of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO)

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of network activities
  • Support for Network Board and Steering Committee
  • Assisting WP Leaders and Task Leaders in coordinating their respective tasks
  • Preparing Board Meetings and Management Team Meetings
  • Internal network communication
  • Daily management of the network
  • Responsible for the accounting including distribution of funds
  • Drafting management reports
  • Drafting final report and financial statements
